Penn State will play an Atlantic Coast Conference team in the Pinstripe Bowl Dec. 27 in New York, a source confirmed Saturday to the Reading Eagle.

The Nittany Lions (6-6) will make their second appearance in the bowl game at Yankee Stadium, 11 years after they defeated Boston College 31-30.
Terry Smith, who has served as interim coach since Oct. 12, will coach Penn State in the game. He has agreed to remain on the staff under new coach Matt Campbell, who will be introduced Monday.
Clemson, Duke, Louisville and Pitt are among the possible opponents from the ACC.
The Tigers, who have never played in the Pinstripe Bowl, and the Lions began the season ranked in the top five in the polls.
