After turning down interest from other schools, LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker agreed to a new contract extension that could ultimately make him the highest-paid assistant coach in the country next year.
Baker agreed to a three-year, $9.3 million deal, multiple sources told The Advocate. His salary starts at $3 million next season before rising every year to $3.2 million in 2028.
Under the terms of the deal, a source said Baker would earn a $300,000 raise and a fourth-year option with a salary of $3.5 million if LSU finishes in the top 20 in scoring defense in any of the first three years.
