CANTON, Ohio — After knocking on the door the past two seasons, Liberty Center finally kicked it in.

The Tigers capped an undefeated run by overpowering Wheelersburg 35-3 in the Division V state championship game Saturday at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, earning the second state football title in program history and the first undefeated championship season the school has ever produced.

Liberty Center, making its third straight appearance in a Division V title game, wasted little time seizing control. Thomas Mohler scored from short range with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead, a sign of things to come for a Liberty Center offense that consistently dictated the pace.
