CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Metro Atlanta lawmakers are helping people understand their rights during federal immigration raids.

Forest Park Council Member Hector Gutierrez and Congresswoman Nikema Williams hosted a resource fair Saturday.

A woman who attended the event is fighting to see her husband again after he was detained by ICE.

“He’s trying to do all the right things to become an American citizen, married to an American citizen, filed taxes, filed all the right documents,” Gail Maclin, whose husband is detained by ICE, said. “He’s been taken to Folkston, Georgia, where other people are taken. He’s lost almost maybe 40 to 50 pounds.”

Williams accused the Trump administration of violating its own rules and hiding the conditions of immigration facilities.
