AMES, Iowa —
The post-Matt Campbell era in Ames won't start as soon as expected.
Iowa State will not participate in a bowl game this year. The departure of head coach Matt Campbell and arrival of new head coach Jimmy Rogers has left the program as a whole in a state of transition.
"Members of the athletics administrative team and the previous coaching staff met with the players this morning and had a robust discussion about the team's ability to play in a postseason bowl game," an announcement from the athletic department reads. "After that discussion, the players voted not to play in a postseason game due to the lack of healthy players to safely practice and play." This content is imported from Twitter.
