Thousands of children in Tennessee have been displaced from schools after natural disasters devastated their towns.

In 2020, deadly tornadoes carved a path of destruction across Middle Tennessee. A 2021 extreme flash flood overtook Humphreys County. And last year, the remains of Hurricane Helene tore through parts of East Tennessee.

The Tennessean spoke with six children, ages 12 to 17, who survived the disasters about the recovery process, what's helped them along the way and what's still missing.
