The Brownsville Fire Department is battling an active apartment fire where one man suffered burn injuries and two police officers were evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were dispatched to the Palacio Real Apartments complex at the 1100 block of East Wildrose at around 11:10 a.m., according to Brownsville Fire Department spokesperson Hector Martinez.
Martinez said when fire crews arrived, they found an active fire affecting a section of the building. One man was being treated for burn injuries, and two Brownsville police officers were being evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.
There are multiple fire engines on scene, according to Martinez. The Brownsville Fire Department and Police Department are asking the public to avoid the area, as the scene will remain active
