At around 12:54 am, officers responding to an altercation between a 35-year-old and an 18-year-old at the 11400 block of South Davol Street attempted to separate the two men. While doing so, the 35-year-old’s gun went off, shooting both the 18-year-old and an officer.
The officer was shot in the chest and saved by a protective vest, according to police.
Meanwhile, a second officer returning fire shot the offender and “inadvertently” shot the 18-year-old, according to police.
