CHESTNUT HILL - Boston College women’s basketball fell to Virginia, 81-55, in the ACC opener on Sunday afternoon in Conte Forum.

The Eagles fall to 4-8 and 0-1 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers move to 7-3 and 1-0 in the league.

Athena Tomlinson led the Eagles with 15 points on five field goals, and grabbed three rebounds with two assists. Erin Houpt came off the bench to tie a season high with 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting.

Amirah Anderson led the team in rebounding with six boards, and Lily Carmody dished out three assists with six points.

Boston College held an early lead after Anderson’s trifecta gave her team a 7-6 lead with 6:20 left in the opening period. The Cavaliers responded by hitting seven of its next eight shots to close the quarter with a 26-13 advantage.
