OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man was sentenced in Omaha federal court on Friday for failing to register as a sex offender.
31-year-old Lawrence Smith, originally from Sioux City, Iowa, was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison and a five-year term of supervised release for failure to register as a sex offender.
From February to June of 2025, Smith lived in Burt County, Nebraska without registering his address with the proper authority, according to court documents.
Documents also say Smith registered a different address with a different registration authority despite not living at that residence.
Smith is required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act .
