WACO, Texas — A Waco man took his own life Sunday outside Oakley's Texas Bar and Grill restaurant, the establishment announced on Facebook.
According to the restaurant, a man ordered a drink at the bar around 3 p.m. He told the bartender he had been recently released from the hospital with a cancer diagnosis, to which the bartender provided compassion and support.
The man soon went outside and took his own life. The restaurant said other customers or employees were involved, and that staff immediately dialed 911.
"Out of deep respect for the individual and everyone affected, Oakley’s has closed for the remainder of the evening. Our hearts are with this individual’s loved ones and we want to express our gratitude for his military service," the restaurant stated. "We thank you all for you
