PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a driver was shot while traveling on I-95 in South Philadelphia.

It happened Saturday at 7:30 p.m. near the Walt Whitman Bridge.

Police say a vehicle traveling southbound was hit by gunfire, striking the driver once in the leg.

The victim managed to drive off the highway and into the Live! Casino parking lot before calling 911.

On Sunday afternoon, State Police worked with PennDOT and Philadelphia Police to close the I-95 South from Columbus Boulevard to Broad Street for more than an hour.
