GARDINER, Maine — The Wreaths Across America procession to Arlington, Virginia, is underway ahead of national Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The escort began Saturday with a sunrise ceremony at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec. On Sunday, the escort traveled from Milbridge to Portland with multiple ceremonies throughout the journey.
One of Sunday's stops included a ceremony at the Gardiner Regional Middle School.
Judy Marsh, of West Gardiner, said she's been involved in the mission for about 25 years.
Marsh, whose son was in the Marines and son-in-law was in the Navy, said she went to Arlington National Cemetery 25 years ago. At the time, there were only about 20 people involved. When she returned three years ago, she said there were more than 20,000.
