The Town of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, has officially declared a water supply emergency after residents sounded off about what they're calling an ongoing dirty water crisis.

Bridgewater's water superintendent, William Young, said in a Facebook post on the town's Department of Public Works page that the water supply emergency was issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

"This necessary action is being taken as the Town of Bridgewater works diligently to improve our critical water infrastructure," Young wrote. "Please be assured that we are addressing this matter with the utmost seriousness and are committed to improving both water quality and water quantity as swiftly as possible."
