NIXA, Mo. (KY3) -There was Christmas cheer in Nixa. The city held its 71st Christmas parade on Sunday.

The festivities started at 2 p.m. with folks showing Christmas spirit. Bands played, Santa visited, and floats were dedicated to this year’s theme - Hometown Heroes.

“Nixa prides itself on its hometown feel, for a community. This is a great way to get people out. We’ll have thousands of people along the parade route, kind of all, commemorating the same thing and working together,“ said Matt Crouse, director of parks and recreation for the City of Nixa. ”It’s our neighbors and the people that we are around all the time living in our communities, bringing them out to get them together is a great thing for everybody."
