PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Central Peoria homeowner accidentally set his porch on Friday Sunday evening while trying to melt ice, according to fire department report.

Firefighters were called about 5:05 p.m. to a home in the 400 block of West Crestwood Drive.

The people living in the house were already outside when fire crews arrived. The battalion chief said firefighters quickly put out the fire, then used positive pressure fans to ventilate smoke inside of the home.

The chief said the fire accidentally started when the homeowner used a small propane kit to melt the ice.

Damage is estimated at $10,000. Residents were not displaced, and no injuries were reported.
