RESIDENTS objecting to plans for a housing development at a beauty spot have expressed their disappointment after their application to register the field as a ‘town or village green’ was rejected.

People in the Hummersknott and Mowden areas of Darlington formed an objection group after it was revealed Homes by Esh and Darlington Borough Council are planning to develop ‘Bull Field’.

A planning application has not yet been made but consultation events, outlining the intended development, have been held at Blackwell Grange Hotel and Salutation Road Church Hall.

The council-owned 14-acre site, between Broken Scar Water treatment works, Coniscliffe Road and Hummersknott Academy playing fields, is popular with walkers, joggers, and nature-lovers.
