Former Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has been axed from a new BBC show

Gary Lineker has been cut from a new BBC show, months after his controversial exit from the broadcaster. The 65-year-old made a cameo appearance in The Celebrity Apprentice, but his contribution has since been axed.

The former Match of the Day host stepped down from his role at the end of last season. Despite leaving Match of the Day, the ex-England striker was still expected to front the BBC's coverage of this season’s FA Cup and upcoming World Cup.

Those plans changed after Lineker made a controversial social media post in May, leading to the BBC parting ways with the experienced presenter . However, he had already been part of The Celebrity Apprentice filming before leaving the BBC.
