Three people, including two police officers, have been seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene, on the A30 in Cornwall, which involved two cars and a police vehicle.

Police were notified to reports of the collision just before 8pm. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A number of people were treated by ambulance services and three men, including two police officers, were conveyed to hospital with serious injuries. Their families have been informed.

"A full road closure was put in place at St Erth roundabout and at the Hayle bypass while emergency services worked at the scene."

They added: "Due to the incident involving a police vehicle, a mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)."

Part of the A30 was closed for 11 hours as an investigation of the scene was carried out, CornwallLive reported.

A spokesperson for the IOPC said: “We are aware of the incident and have requested a paper referral from the force. Once this is received we will assess it to decide if any further action is required from us.”
