The heat of an open flame is about the last thing you’d want to feel in New Orleans most of the year. But as temperatures drop and the holidays grow nearer, the long-dormant fireplaces in doubles and Creole cottages around town seem to call out, ripe with the potential for an evening spent warming your toes on the hearth.
