BBC Breakfast aired an emotional special on Monday as the show paid tribute to the three girls killed in the Southport attack in July

BBC Breakfast viewers were left feeling deeply moved as the programme paused for a poignant special segment. During Monday's (December 8) instalment of the popular BBC show, presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were guiding audiences through the day's major news stories from Britain and around the world .

However, the mood shifted as colleague Sarah Campbell took the reins to announce a special tribute to the three young girls tragically killed in the Southport attack last July.

The programme dedicated 30 minutes to hearing from the parents of Alice da Silva Aguiar, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Bebe King, who shared memories of their daughters' lives
