Outlander heartthrob Sam Heughan has been showered with praise from devoted fans following an emotional farewell to his latest theatrical venture.

The Scottish actor, famed for his portrayal of beloved Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the popular Starz drama, recently made his stage comeback after more than a decade to take on the role of Macbeth at The Other Place in Stratford-upon-Avon.

His theatrical return earned rave reviews from critics, with The Guardian awarding it five stars and describing it as "a terrifying lock-in with bloodied, boozed-up gangsters".
