COLUMBUS, Ohio — Brian Hartline , the morning after calling plays for Ohio State football in its loss to Indiana, was on a tarmac in Columbus. Accompanied by his wife and three kids, Hartline boarded a private jet headed to Tampa where his tenure as South Florida’s next head coach awaited.
However, his time in Columbus has not come to an end yet.
Hartline is still Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, receivers coach and play-caller through the end of the season — at least that’s what head coach Ryan Day has in mind.
“Brian calls the plays and will continue to call the plays,” Day said Sunday after Ohio State was unveiled as the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff bracket. “But we’re going to have everybody involved with it. It’s a group effort.”
