HAINES CITY, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A man is in custody in Polk County after he claimed he had a nuclear bomb in his pickup truck, Haines City Police said.

On Dec. 5, officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash in a Publix parking lot.

When they arrived, they found a Chevy Silverado with 43-year-old Benjamin Donald Johnson behind the wheel. Johnson refused multiple commands by police to get out of the truck.

When officers physically removed Johnson from the truck, they saw multiple firearms in plain view, the police department said in a news release.

As Johnson sat the back of a police cruiser, an officer overheard Johnson says there was a “dirty bomb” in his truck. Officers found a yellow plastic container secured with chains and locks, with a radioactive warning label.
