PRIOR LAKE, Minn. — A mosque in Prior Lake suffered significant damage in a fire early Monday.
Fire crews arrived on scene at the Masjid Hamza Al- Mahmood Foundation, at 5995 Timber Trail Southeast, just before 2:30 a.m. and found flames leaping from the roof.
Firefighters searched the building to confirm no one was inside, then began their attack from both the interior and exterior of the mosque. A decision was made to pull crews from the inside of the building just before a portion of the roof collapsed.
Four hours after the fire started, firefighters were still working on extinguishing hot spots.
A Prior Lake spokesman says because the building housed a religious institution, a full investigation will be conducted by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office and the federal Burea
