Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (10) drops back to pass against the Las Vegas Raiders during the second half at SoFi Stadium.

The Los Angeles Chargers are hoping a pair of injured players can give the team a spark in Week 14.

Justin Herbert is battling a fractured finger on his non-throwing hand and Omarion Hampton has been out since Week 5 with an ankle injury. The Chargers might get the best of both worlds as those two stars aim to play on "Monday Night Football" against the Philadelphia Eagles.

At the very least, Herbert should give Chargers fans plenty of optimism. He underwent surgery on the finger, but didn't miss any practice time ahead of Week 14.

With L.A. in the heat of a playoff race, the Chargers are hoping to continue navigating all the injuries they've dealt with in 2025.

Now they get to take on a struggling Eagles team in the hopes they can keep pace with the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos.

Here's the latest on Herbert.

Justin Herbert injury update

Herbert is listed as questionable for Week 14's matchup on "Monday Night Football" against the Eagles.

There has been plenty of optimism surrounding Herbert's status, however. It was reported by The Athletic's Dianna Russini that the quarterback is expected to play. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman said, via ESPN's Kris Rhim, on Dec. 4 that the team was optimistic that Herbert would attempt to play.

The 27-year-old fractured a finger in Week 13 on his non-throwing hand – an injury that required surgery. Herbert played through the injury in Week 13 and did have an extra day of rest ahead of Week 14.

Herbert practiced on a limited basis all week long, putting him in position to suit up.

Chargers QB depth chart

  • Justin Herbert
  • Trey Lance
  • DJ Uiagalelei (practice squad)

The Chargers only carry two quarterbacks on their active roster, which puts even more pressure on Herbert to stay healthy if he plays.

Lance is the backup and Uiagalelei is on the practice squad. The Chargers would have to add Uiagalelei to the active roster in order to designate him as the emergency quarterback for Week 14.
