ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has completed a significant land acquisition, securing nearly 16,000 acres of forested land in northern Minnesota.
The DNR says this move ensures the permanent protection of these lands, preserving their ecological and recreational benefits.
"We’re grateful for the opportunity to protect these forests, lakes, and waterways – now and for generations to come," DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen said. "Public lands are essential to Minnesota’s environmental stewardship, identity, and economy."
The acquisition was achieved through partnerships with The Conservation Fund, Northern Waters Land Trust, and several Minnesota counties. The DNR worked collaboratively to identify acquisition priorities and secure funding.
