A 23 year old woman who was reportedly "jailed for life" in Dubai has been released, according to her mother. Mia O'Brien, a law student from Huyton, Merseyside , was detained in Dubai in September following what her mother referred to as a "very stupid mistake".

Mia O'Brien was held in Dubai's central prison after allegedly being found with 50 grams of cocaine in October last year, her mother Danielle McKenna stated. In a now-deleted online fundraiser, mum Dannielle, 46, revealed: "Mia has been given a life sentence over in Dubai and she is now in central prison.

"As you can all probably imagine, as her mother I am absolutely devastated. I haven't seen my daughter since last October.
