TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A motorcyclist was seriously hurt after being hit by a car near downtown Tempe on Monday morning.
At about 1 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of Rural Road and Rio Salado Parkway on reports of a crash.
Police say the motorcyclist was making a left-hand turn onto Rio Salado when it turned too soon into oncoming traffic and was hit by a car.
The motorcycle driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A passenger on the bike was not transported.
The car driver was arrested for driving under the influence, according to the Tempe Police Department.
A passenger inside the car was transported to the hospital for precautionary treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
