SUFFOLK, Va. — Two residents have been displaced after a Monday morning house fire in the 900 block of Carolina Road, according to Suffolk Fire & Rescue.

Emergency Communications received the call at 6:20 a.m. Monday. Engine 2 arrived six minutes later to find heavy smoke coming from a single-story home. Fire crews entered the residence and located active flames in the kitchen. The fire was brought under control by 6:37 a.m.

Fire officials said primary and secondary searches confirmed no other residents were inside the home. One person was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape before emergency crews arrived. No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
