It felt like a formality, but the Week 14 loss to the Miami Dolphins officially eliminated the Jets from Playoff contention.
The team started 0-7 so it’s not like the Jets were ever in the race for a Playoff spot. Even before the season began, there were few expectations this would be the year the team would break its long postseason drought. The Jets had a new coach and a new general manager inheriting a roster full of holes. The Jets underwent a youth movement this season, the start of yet another rebuild. Hopefully this time there will be success.
This marks the 15th straight year the Jets will miss the Playoffs. This isn’t just the longest Playoff drought in the NFL. It is seven years longer than second place.
