More than 200,000 power banks sold on Amazon have been recalled because the lithium-ion battery in them can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn risks to consumers.
A recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says INIU has received 15 reports of power banks overheating, including 11 reports of fires that have resulted in three minor burn injuries and property damage totaling more than $380,000. Advertisement
The INIU power banks impacted by this recall were sold on Amazon from August 2021 to April 2022 for about $18.
Consumers who purchased the INIU power banks covered by this recall should not throw them in the trash, general recycling or in used battery recycling boxes at various retail or home improvement stores.
