Notre Dame’s 2025 season is over after the Fighting Irish decided not to play in a bowl game as a result of being left out of the 12-team College Football Playoff .

“As a team, we’ve decided to withdraw our name from consideration for a bowl game following the 2025 season,” a statement posted on X from the football team said . “We appreciate all the support from our families and fans, and we’re hoping to bring the 12th national title to South Bend in 2026.”

The Fighting Irish were ranked in the top 10 of every College Football Playoff rankings until Sunday when the Fighting Irish stunningly missed the CFP by one spot.

They would have played in a non-CFP bowl game that included the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Holiday Bowl and Gator Bowl.
