The Worcester City Council will meet Tuesday to discuss the tax rates for Fiscal Year 2026.

The council was supposed to discuss the tax rates at their Nov. 25 meeting but Mayor Joseph Petty made a motion to hold all items related to the rates until the council’s next meeting on Dec. 9.

The motion was unanimously approved by the council.

In 2024, the council set a residential tax rate of $13.19 per $1,000 of assessed value and a commercial, industrial and personal property tax rate of $28.61 per $1,000.

This year, the lowest possible residential tax rate is $13.32 and the highest possible commercial tax rate is $29.16, according to a communication from Chief Financial Officer Timothy J. McGourthy sent to City Manager Eric D. Batista.
