Milford High School went into a shelter-in-place on Monday morning after a false report that resulted in the arrest of a person in Tennessee.

The report came in to the Milford Police Department on Monday morning, according to a statement from Milford Public Schools Superintendent Craig Consigli and Milford High School Principal Joshua Otlin.

The person claimed a student had a gun in a school bathroom. While the report was unverified, police asked the school enter into a shelter-in-place with secured hallways so officers could respond and check the building.

Officers conducted a thorough sweep of the school, searching all areas including the bathrooms connected to the report, and spoke with students and staff, school officials said.
