A powerful earthquake has struck off Japan's coast. A tsunami warning is now in effect for Hokkaido, Aomori, and Iwate prefectures. Waves as high as three metres are expected. The quake registered a magnitude of 7.6. It occurred offshore on Monday evening. Authorities are urging caution along the northeastern coast.
