BRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. —

One person is dead and three others were taken to the hospital in critical condition after a crash along AA Highway that shut down a portion of the road for hours.

It all unfolded around 8 a.m. Monday when Kentucky State Police say a box truck headed southbound lost control, crossing the median and hitting a pickup truck. Advertisement

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others inside the pickup were taken to the hospital, with three of them taken to UK Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the box truck was injured but the extent of injuries is unknown.

Five other vehicles were involved in the crash, making it a total of seven vehicles involved, KSP said.
