Michigan is in for a snowy, icy start to the week as a clipper system moves in Monday afternoon, Dec. 8.
Lake-effect snow is expected in the eastern Upper Peninsula and northwest Lower Peninsula — up to 11 inches by late in the week.
From 1 p.m. Monday to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, the eastern UP is forecast to get 1-9 inches of snow — with the heaviest snow falling in western Mackinac County . During the same time frame, cities along northern Lake Michigan are predicted to see 2-6 inches of snow, with Pilgrim (north of Manistee) expected to see the most, according to the National Weather Service's Probabilistic Precipitation Portal .
