Mississippi homeowners who applied for the Statewide Residential Safe Room Grant Program will begin receiving notification emails this week indicating whether they were selected in the lottery.
The program, administered by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, provides up to $3,500 in reimbursement to help homeowners install FEMA-compliant safe rooms or storm shelters on their property to protect against severe weather. More than 11,000 Mississippians applied.
The grant uses a lottery system that selects 38 applicants from each of the state’s 82 counties. Any unused county slots were added to a second statewide drawing.
Selected applicants will receive an email with next-step instructions. MEMA urges applicants to check all inbox folders, including spam, for notifications. Those
