Air Transat said it will begin suspending flights on Monday with a total shutdown planned for Tuesday.

Contract talks continued on Monday between Transat AT TRZ-T and the union that represents its 750 pilots as the airline prepared to wind down operations ahead of a possible strike on Wednesday.

Both sides said progress was made overnight toward a tentative collective agreement between the Montreal-based operator of Air Transat and the Air Line Pilots’ Association.

The airline said it will begin suspending flights on Monday with a total shutdown planned for Tuesday. As of midday, airport websites still posted full schedules of Air Transat flights to resort destinations in Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean.
