Boone High School athletic director Kevin Demer remembers well the dreadful days when he and Timber Creek’s Jim Priest had to deal with a mountain of problems as new ADs on new campuses 24 years ago.

“Neither one of us knew what we were doing,” Demer recalled. “Jim and I definitely fed off each other. We had a lot of the same problems. It was good to have somebody to share your pain sometimes.”

Making a demanding job more stressful was the fact that not only were Demer and Priest new to the position, they were at brand new schools. Demer was selected to launch the athletics programs for Olympia, and Priest landed the same job at Timber Creek when those schools opened in 2001.
