A winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 1:02 p.m. valid from Wednesday 4 a.m. until Thursday 7 a.m. for Northern Herkimer, Southern Herkimer and Northern Fulton as well as Hamilton County.

"Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 11 inches possible," describes the weather service. "Snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour are possible in the southern Adirondacks on Wednesday which will likely lead to reduced visibility. The highest accumulation on Wednesday will likely remain north of the New York Thruway in Herkimer County."
