CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Participation in West Virginia’s Hope Scholarship program nearly doubled this year, according to an annual report released Monday by the Office of State Treasurer Larry Pack.
The report shows 10,530 students are receiving Hope Scholarship funds for the 2024–2025 academic year, up 93% from 5,443 students last year. The program, one of the nation’s broadest education savings account initiatives, allows families to use state funds to customize their children’s education outside the public school system.
Eligible students received $4,921.39 each this school year, with the state transferring about $48.9 million in total to participating families’ accounts.
