BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Volunteers will place over 1,500 wreaths on veterans' graves at Bridgeport Cemetery on Saturday, marking another year of the Wreaths Across America ceremony.
Krista Parker, the event's location coordinator has led the effort for the past ten years.
"More and more people are getting involved," Parker said. "Word gets out. They want to come."
The ceremony begins at noon Saturday at the Bridgeport Cemetery.
This year, 110 families donated wreaths to place on their loved ones' graves, a significant increase from previous years.
"That list gets longer and longer every year," Parker said. "The families will come up and a soldier will present them with their wreaths."
The 45-minute ceremony includes the national anthem, a wreath-laying ceremony representing each military
