BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB) - Governor Jeff Landry on Monday (Dec. 8) announced Dr. Evelyn Griffin as Louisiana’s next Surgeon General.

This, after the former Surgeon General Dr. Ralph Abraham was named the CDC Principal Deputy Director in November.

Dr. Griffin, a board-certified OBGYN, was among the first surgeons in her region trained for robotic surgery. She earned her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine and was a resident at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Dr. Griffin practiced at a multispecialty clinic and hospital system for 15 years and is currently an obstetric hospitalist.
