The heat appears to be ramping up at MLB Winter Meetings in Orlando.
Free-agent slugger Pete Alonso will meet with interested suitors on Tuesday, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman. The Red Sox and Orioles are among the teams he is scheduled to speak with.
The Red Sox have been heavily linked to Alonso, a veteran first baseman who would be able to rotate at first base with Triston Casas and provide Boston with a pop in the lineup.
It’s been predicted the Red Sox will sign Alonso this week and MLB Network’s Jon Morosi labeled Boston as the team “best positioned” to sign the 31-year-old.
