ARKANSAS, USA — A newly released report from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) shows that life expectancy is up in Arkansas, but the state still ranks in the bottom 10 nationwide.

The CDC report released Dec. 4 included data from 2022. It found that life expectancy in the Natural State was 73.9 years old; 71.3 for men, and 76.6 for women.

Out of 50 states and the District of Columbia, Arkansas ranked 44th, with neighbors Oklahoma and Tennessee trailing right behind.

Hawaii, Massachusetts, and New Jersey ranked in the top three, while Kentucky, Mississippi, and West Virginia rounded out the bottom three.

The report said life expectancy at birth increased for 48 states and DC from 2021 to 2022, with only Maine and Vermont experiencing a decline.
