When Luigi Mangione was arrested in an Altoona, Pennsylvania McDonald’s last year, he had a hand-drawn map in his backpack with a line connecting Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cincinnati, according to court documents presented in his murder case this week.

“Keep momentum,” a note next to the map said. “FBI slower overnight.”

Police arrested Mangione after receiving a tip from a McDonald’s employee. Prosecutors say he shot United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson at point-blank range outside the Midtown Hilton last December before fleeing the area. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to state and federal murder charges.

Mangione’s defense team is now trying to suppress evidence gathered during that arrest, arguing police didn’t have a proper search warrant for the backpack or read Mangione his Mirand
