Students statewide have demonstrated their artistic flair on a medium not usually associated with art.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has unveiled the entries in its Paint the Plow contest. High schools are invited to paint the plow blades with the theme “Don’t race. Allow some space.”

The theme “encourages motorists to keep a safe distance from plows and other vehicles during winter weather conditions.”

Entries are grouped by PennDOT districts. District 8, which covers central Pennsylvania, has entries from five schools - Carlisle, Central Dauphin East, Susquenita, Trinity and West Perry.

People can vote for their favorites from 7 a.m. today through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. You can see the District 8 entries and vote here.
