As the Mets and general manager David Stearns prioritize a rotation revamp this offseason, that may mean Kodai Senga’s time in New York is coming to an end.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today , “the Mets want to move on from” Senga.

The right-hander is an expendable piece of a rotation that will need to make room for a top pitcher at some point this winter. Senga, however, would prefer to stay put. He informed the Mets that he does not want to be traded, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported last month that Senga is “extremely available” in trade talks.

Senga has two years remaining on his five-year, $75 million contract, but injuries have marked his last couple of seasons, keeping him from reaching the potential the Mets were looking for.
